Your first vector
RastaVec turns a raster image into SVG paths you can inspect, adjust and edit in other vector software.
From file to SVG
- Open the browser editor and choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP image.
- Review the suggested tracing settings and refine detail or smoothing for your artwork.
- Compare the original with the vector result, then export the SVG to your device.
Supported formats
Import PNG, JPEG and WebP images. Export the traced artwork as SVG. The command-line edition can also process batches of images and write a JSON report.
Command line
Use the RastaVec CLI to trace a file or batch, inspect the settings Auto would choose, or split a sprite sheet into separate images.
See the CLI guide for the current Node.js requirement, installation steps, all options, JSON report fields and exit codes.
Tracing controls
Start with the automatic preset, which selects tracing parameters from the image characteristics. Choose a manual preset when you want to explore a particular style, and compare candidates before exporting.
Compare results
Use the side-by-side view and visible-difference measurement to judge whether a result preserves the details that matter in your source. Metrics help with comparison; the artwork itself remains the final test.
Export SVG
Download the result and continue editing it in a vector editor, or use it in your own project. Group names, roles and pivots can be included in exported metadata when you prepare artwork for animation.
Privacy and local processing
RastaVec's browser editor performs tracing in your browser. Keep a copy of your original image if you want to preserve it independently of the current session.
